In march of 1998 I attended my first Toastmasters meeting. I was warmly welcomed into a room of people eager to help each other become better communicators. There were men and women from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels. Some were confident, some were timid, all were supportive of one another. They were a group who were serious about their learning, while having fun in the process. It was a safe, positive environment. As I signed the membership agreement a few weeks later, I could never have imagined the impact Toastmasters would have on my life.
It’s been over twenty years and I am still a Toastmaster. It’s an important part of who I am. My communication skills have developed, and so have my leadership skills. I continue to learn, grow and have fun. Here’s a brief video which explains #My Why.
